STYLISHhotels in Tuscany

STYLISHhotels in Tuscany
intopassion

Tuscany is one of the most beautiful regions in Europe. Family-run lovely agriturismo, vineyards, secretive little towns where you always find your place in the piazza with the prosecco in your hand and unique local food of the highest quality.

This is precisely where we went together with STYLISH TRAVELLERS a few times. The scent of olive trees, sound of cicadas, taste of rosemary and wonderful hotels… this is the Tuscany that we miss and are looking forward to coming back to.

BORGO SANTO PIETRO

We always associate this place with top notch luxury. Citrus fruit grows along the alley and a bottle of Prosecco waits for us in the garden overlooking the valley and the swimming pool. The hotel doesn’t make a posh impression. The luxury consists rather in detailed attention to design and its correspondence to the nature. “Comfortable” and “intimate” would be appropriate words to use here. Strolling around the estate, one can admire the rose garden or the vegetable patch (i.e. eggplants, cocktail tomatoes or lettuce), which provides ingredients for meals.

CONTI DI SAN BONIFACIO

Apart from the magical woody hills surrounding the area, what stands out is the design. It was taken care of by the owner herself, which definitely paid off in terms of aesthetics. Far from overwhelming perfection, the place invites you to lay back and relax. Beiges, whites and browns match natural leathers, soft sofas and pillows. The view from our apartment window is also incredible – the beauty of the vine-covered valley just knocks you off your feet! Conti di San Bonifacio is really amazing– thinking about it still evokes wide smiles on our faces.

FOLLONICO

It is a complex of 6 apartments located upon a hill, among vineyards. We absorb the untouched beauty of Tuscan architecture, aesthetically appealing interior and the owner’s ecological awareness. Follonico’s design reminds us of Scandinavian minimalism with its white colours and interestingly crafted wood items. Most furniture and wooden elements were made by two young architects from Sestini e Corti. Minor bric-a-brac comes from various flea-markets, while kitchen equipment – metal pots and frying pans – was bought almost 20 years ago. The owners ascribe much importance to ecology – they grow their own garlic, rocket, chilli, and other vegetables. Home-made bread and focaccia are baked for breakfast. Guests may always order dinner as well – they will eat the same thing as the owner’s family.

FONTELUNGA

The 200-year-old villa (quite modern for Italian standards) looks very romantic from the outside. It fits Tuscany well, but nonetheless, it evokes the colours and the general feel of Provance. In the garden, olive trees, lavenders and cypresses build the depth of the landscape. The interior of Fontelunga was designed by the co-owner Philippe, and it keeps changing all the time – new sofa, new wall colour in the bedrooms. And that addictive view…

GALLERY Hotel Art

In the heart of Florence just a few steps from Ponte Vecchio the hotel is located in the quite countryard. We eat delicious breakfast in the library, have a drink with the view on Arno river and discover stunning art in the lobby. Photography, design, materials, such as fine linen, cashmere, Asian woods, and Tuscan stones, already famous in Florence bartenders and fancy crown – all create unforgettable atmosphere of the hotel.

IL BORRO

In that little medieval town there lived the Ferragamo family who redefined what is called the luxury proper. Il Borro combines modernity and history. Sophisticated simplicity. Perfection. The very concept of Il Borro reflects the best way of understanding luxury – on the one hand innovation and sophistication, on the other tradition and accessibility.

LA BANDITA

John Voightmann once decided to change his life, leave New York and move to beautiful Italy. He bought several storeys in a tenement and transformed them into an eight-room boutique hotel. Out of flowers, bushes and trees there appears a stone house. The quintessence of Tuscany. In the garden there is a swimming pool, whose water surface contrasts with sunlit hills. The interiors of La Bandita are modern and simple. Usually light colours are sometimes interwoven with slightly more intensive hues – a blue wall here or a green locker there. Common areas consist of big wooden tables. Tables and sofas in the living room are the places where we can sit and read books, brief through international magazines or listen to music. Second location La Bandita Townhouse was opened in Pienza – one of the most picturesque towns in Tuscany!

LE FONTANELLE

The 82-year-old owner of this place – which is also her home – invites friends from all over the world to pay a visit. The name derives from old fountains which are currently a part of the hotel. Homely atmosphere pervades everything: the design, the furniture, the staff. What also caught our attention was the owner’s private book collection. The hotel provides a perfect escape from the guests’ everyday fancy lifestyle – it is peaceful, quiet and charming. Each of the 25 rooms has a terrace overlooking the valley and is certain to meet the highest expectations. The visitors’ every need is attended to, which results in a new definition of luxury.

PODERE CONTI

It is a truly idyllic place where you can rest from the buzz of big cities and their touristic chaos. It is agritourism at its best, where the time slows down and lets you savour every moment. Cornelia, the owner of our hotel, bids us welcome in the rays of the slowly setting sun. For us, evening means apperitivo, so we make our way to the charming restaurant La Tovolata. We order goat cheese salad together with aromatic balsamico and cooled white wine. Life is good!

POGGIO AL SANTI

It is the quintessence of what we love in Tuscany – lemon trees, violet irises and the gorgeous fragrance of herbs. Moments right before the sunset are simply breathtaking. The distant shape of Corsica looks amazing. What is now a hotel used to be a regular house where people lived. We enjoy the swimming pool (well-fitted into the general design), numerous terraces and birds’ pleasant chirping in the mornings.

RIPOSTENA

Several stone buildings hidden among the slopes of Tuscan mountains and the view of picturesque surroundings are simply breathtaking. The road to the estate seems to lead us to the edge of the world – it is long and meandering. At the end of it, the Ripostena family estate appears. 4 buildings, that is 10 apartments to rent in total, have been prepared to meet
the needs of modern Europeans. They are well-equipped, but there’s no unnecessary extravagance or pretentiousness. Everything fits perfectly into the rural surroundings. We can expect peace, silence and homely atmosphere.
